Being the record of rapid retreats by Brott-Hlaup in the Norse survival game Valheim
After watching the Abomination v Troll fight I tried to get an Abomination to chase me towards a Troll but it gave up so I killed the Troll and loads of Leeches and Skeletons to load up on mats. Back at base I upgraded my Iron Armour and crafted an Iron Pickaxe as preparation for a visit to the Mountains.
I downloaded Greenshot to save my screenshots directly to jpeg and save converting from PNG which are too large. Celebrated with some gardening.
I upgraded my Forge and upgraded my Iron Mace before another trip to the crypt where I discovered Bonemass location (which I knew anyway).
Spent a day crafting until the Ground Shook. I was pleased my moat held the 2 Trolls out but I could only kill 1 in the time.
Celebrated by crafting my first Jack-o-Turnip.

I realised after watching some youtube videos that for the WASD keys I only ever use W! Might explain my crap combat. Tried using A and D to do some sniping, needs some work. I worked through a new crypt to get enough Iron Scraps to craft a set of Iron Armour which upped my Armour level to 41.
Got a ringside seat at an Inter biome war. The Abomination won by cheating, recruiting a couple of Draugrs to help.
I finished the Trolls work and took the Abomination out.
Went back to the place of my death and found I had been fighting a Draugr Elite and hadn't realised. Got my revenge. A quick review of my skills after the 2 deaths, clubs down from 36 to 31, ouch.
When I died I had a full pack so decided to risk a naked sneak to recover my stuff. Nearly worked first time but I forgot i had a healing potion and couldn't recovery all my gear. The confusion got me killed again. So back for another sneak without the healing potion and success!

First trip down the Crypt, I was very brave stupid. I skipped Bronze Armour hoping I can grab enough Iron Scraps to quickly get Iron Armour. I didn't see 2 archers when I broke through a room with a melee guy and they got me. Should have brought Stagbreaker!
I recovered some of my stuff from chests including my Rancid Remains Trophy which I read somewhere might be the rarest drop in Valheim.
Took a trip to the Spawn point to hang the Elder trophy and make a portal nearby to make this journey quicker in future.
One advantage of taking ages to kill The Elder is he does a load of Lumberjacking for you.
My bow skills stayed at 26 after 2 deaths but other skills went down e.g. Clubs went down from 39 to 36.
Created a Portal using a nearby ruin.
Typical crap combat skills on show. First death was caused when I went to refresh my food and hit the Function keys by mistake (not the first time this has happened!). This stopped me from moving and the Elder ranged attack took me out.
Second death was when trying to recover items from the Tombstone. I always fumble about doing this.
The Elder got stuck when I came back and I could wear him down from range, his ranged attack mainly missed me.
Whenever I die I always sleep to start the day fresh, I have experience fighting The Elder at night with all the extra mobs, not a happy memory!
I took a couple of harvests before I had enough spare Turnips to build a spice rack. In the meantime I has used all my Carrots for Carrot Soup and had to wait another 2 days for a Carrot harvest before I could make some Sausages. I wanted to get my improved food before I took on The Elder. In the meantime I started the prep for visiting the Mountains by brewing Frost Resistant Mead. Bow skill is 26, I will probably struggle with enough damage output in the Boss fight.
I added a couple of Dragon decorations to Jarnheim for fun.
Encouraged by my success with the Draugr village and with my improved diet I risked a tour of the Swamp.
I am crap at Valheim but enjoy it and want to finally get a full run through. I created a character that reflected my abilities in Valheim ...
