Day 30 Eikthyr

Ready to take on the Boss Deer

I used a Bone Shield and Flint Spear, wearing my L1 Troll Hide armour.

Day 28 & 29 Moving stuff to new base

I ran between my bases moving stuff to Eirheim

 Moved my Workbench upgrades.

Day 27 Comfort 7

Took a trip over to my other base to transfer some items to my new base when Eikthyr provided some walking leather scraps and Neck Tails.

I crafted a chair and banner with my 6 Fine Wood giving me 14 mins rested bonus.

I checked out my stats, I think I am ready to try taking on the big deer.

Day 26 Buildings don't stop Poison

I wanted to increase the comfort level of Eirheim so did the log rolling trick to get more Fine Wood. It was pretty tedious when the logs kept running into the sea!

That evening I got a large group of visitors who started bashing hell out of my nice new house. My irritation got the better of me and I charged out to sort them out but a combination of Shaman and Brute got the better of me and I RAN AWAY back inside. However I didn't account for the Shaman poison leaking under the door and I DIED while inside my house! If only I had something to dig a moat with ....

Day 21 to 25 Bronze Mining Camp - Eirheim

Its time to set up for smelting Bronze so I set off West and scouted the area for more Copper and Tin. Found 2 more Copper nodes and Tin. The only flat non-wooded area was by the coast so that's where I set up. I crafted my first Hoe, choped loads of wood and got to work.

I do like lots of windows in my buildings. My chimney design is just a big hole as I am not planning to stay here past the Bronze Age.

During the night I got loads of "visitors" from the Black Forest which enabled me to level up my Spears skill.

Day 20 Bone Tower Shield

Crafted a Bone Tower Shield and set off to clear the third Crypt. Stupidly I forgot to repair my club but fortunately had a few torches on board and that allowed me to finish the Crypt exploration. The torches proved very handy for clearing out the couple of Ghosts I came across.

I have 20 Surling Cores and about 600 in cash now, need a few more Crypt clearances before I can set off to find the Trader and get the weight lifting belt.

Club skill in coming on nicely.

Day 19 Troll Hide Armour and the Crypt Kicker 4

I crafted myself a Troll Hide Tunic and Pants increasing my Armour by 2 and giving me a backup set if I have any more fatalities.

And I got dangerously close to needing the backup armour, one room had 6 skeletons. I managed to close the door and deal with the first 2 but the others had smashed the door down by then.

Here are the Skele Boy Band the Crypt Kicker Four before I reduced them to a pile of bones.

Day 18 Two Trolls

I went to delve down another crypt but encountered a Troll who I kited and whittled down. He only hit me once.

Returning to look for the Crypt I dispatched a couple of skeleton guards. The noise attracted another Troll, this time with a tree log club. Same routine as before but by now I had lost my rested bonus so when he clobbered me and reduced my health to10 it was time to RUN AWAY to recover. Then it was night time and I got cold, I was very cautious to only fire when safe and eventually I killed the Troll and clubbed his 3 Greydwarf friends.

Looking forward to using the rewards.

Day 17 A quiet day chopping wood with a One Star Skeleton

After all the excitement I decided to have a quiet day chopping wood as I didn't have any stock left. I was just chopping away when this One Star Skeleton appeared out of nowhere! After panicking before I decided to take it easy and just block one hit one until he was dead, took a while but no dramas.

The map looks like this with The Elder marked on it.

Day 16 Upgraded Leather Armour

And after all that dying I was rewarded with a doubling of my Armour by upgrading using the bones I collected.

My skills had taken a bit of a beating.

But I was not going to be put off by a bit of dying so I scouted the next crypt with the idea of returning to get another skeleton trophy that would allow me to craft a Bone Tower Shield.

Day 15 Running Away a lot

At least I still had food after my stupid dying day and I crafted myself a load of torches. The plan was to run in the crypt, get in a couple of shots with the torch, then run out again to get my health back up. And this worked, it took the whole day and things improved when I managed to trap a couple of skeletons behind a door but I eventually killed the one star archer and his mate.

I was able to use Corpse Run to dash in and clear the Bone Pile and spawns.

At least I got the reward of finding the Elder location after all that grief. He is off to the east past the copper deposits.

Day 14 The Day of the Dead

I needed some bones to upgrade my armour and headed off to the crypt I discovered earlier. On the way I fought a skeleton and stumbled across the hidden entrance to another crypt so in I went.

The first passage I entered was fine, an easy skeleton kill and Surtling Cores at the end. Then it started to go pear shaped. The next door I opened had this strange green skeleton this like of which I had never seen before. A bit too late I realised he was doing poison damage and I RAN AWAY.

I was poisoned with about 30 health left as I exited the crypt and ran straight into a skeleton, panicked, tried to hit him, and DIED.

I didn't have any backup armour but I did have plenty of food and some gear so i had a meal, geared up and returned. I used the Corpse Run to dash into the Crypt and take down the Rancid Remains while I was not taking much damage and this worked out OK. Then I made a fatal mistake. I didn't do the sensible thing and return to base to put my backup gear in storage, I pushed on and met a one star archer defending a bone pile. I thought I could dodge him and destroy the bone pile, I was wrong!

And with no gear I had to go back naked armed only with a torch, that didn't go well either.

Day 13 Two Star Greydwarf Brute

On my way to the crypt I spotted a Two Star Greydwarf Brute in a tower. I didn't want him jumping out while I was running away so felt I had to deal with him. Luckily he was too stupid to figure out how to get out of the tower and I could shoot him with arrows. I only had a very narrow shot at him and most of the time he was behind stone. I was hitting him maybe one in ten shots and ran out of arrows. I had to chop some wood, craft some arrows and run back to finish him off just before night fell. He dropped 4 ancient seeds!

Day 12 Tower Shield

Made my way back to my main shack and crafted a level 3 Tower Shield in preparation for a trip into the crypt I had spotted earlier.

Day 11 Tin

Explored the eastern coast up to the Black Forest and discovered Tin.

Stumbled across a tower full of skeletons and decided to avoid them.

The map now looks like this

Day 10 Go East

I decided to do some exploring and headed east. Found an abandoned village with a beehive and made a shelter.

Checked out my skills, Bows is coming along.

In the late evening I spotted a red glow and discovered another Eikthyr Altar.

Checked out the map for my three copper deposits in the west and the new altar in the east.

Day 9 Core Wood at last for a Finewood Bow

Returned to the west and finally chopped some Core Wood.

I explored a bit and found 2 other Copper deposits close by, looks like a good location for a Bronze smelting operation.

Went back to my main house and proudly crafted my Finewood Bow.

Day 8 Two Star Greydwarf

Headed west in search of Core Wood. Found a grove of pines close to the Meadows near to a copper deposit and started chopping. Attracted a Greydwarf and I dispatched him and continued chopping but then his two star friend appeared and I decided to RUN AWAY. Took a few pot shots at him while retreating and he followed me all the way back to my Bee House. Quickly crafted a torch and he was toast.

Here is the map showing the copper location in the west.

Day 7 Looking for Core Wood

I needed some leather scraps to craft a shield and The Forsaken provided!

Went in search of Core Wood but could only find small patches of Black Forest with no pines.

Day 6 Finewood

Spent all day chopping beech trees to fall on a birch tree and then rolling the logs around to get Finewood to craft a Finewood bow.

Crafted a Tanning Rack in preparation for upgrading my leather armour but that requires lots of bones.

Day 5 Leather Armour

Lots of deer hunting today. Managed to sneak up and kill 3 deer a couple of times ending back at my Shack near the Black Forest.

I upgraded my workbench to L2 with the chopping block and I was delighted to have enough deer hide to craft a leather tunic, pants and helmet taking my armour up to a massive 6.  The deer stakes were pretty tasty too.

The exploration map looks like this.

Day 4 Spear and Bow Upgrades

Lots of exploring today ending back at my original "Bee House" for a well earned rest.

Only had enough deer hide to upgrade my Flint Spear and Crude Bow. The deer stakes were pretty tasty.

I reviewed my skills instead of the map. Need to get my blocking up if I intend to tank the big deer.

Introduction

I am crap at Valheim but enjoy it and want to finally get a full run through.  I created a character that reflected my abilities in Valheim ...
